The relationship between the Fogarty Foundation and Lavan Legal has been very beneficial. Both organisations have many common objectives in particular advancing the attributes and thinking of young people and challenging young people to be aware of business, the community and the issues they may confront.
Lavan Legal joined with the Foundation as an associate in the UWA Fogarty Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship Program three years ago. Lavan has provided funding to help grow the scholarship program and has also provided input into the Leadership Program. They created ‘Hypotheticals’ in 2008 and 2009, a stimulating event that brought high profile people from within the community to debate sports, business and ethics. They also hosted an evening at their offices in 2010 which gave the scholars the opportunity to learn more about life at one of Western Australia’s leading law firms.
Lavan Legal has provided the scholars with an opportunity to network with some of Perth’s leading business people and provide future career connections. One of the graduating UWA Fogarty Scholars has recently accepted a position as articled clerk with Lavan Legal while others have undertaken work experience opportunities.
