Individual Acheivement

To meet the needs of individuals and the community, the Fogarty Foundation through the portfolio of Fogarty Giving continues to support a number of individuals or organisations in their pursuit of excellence.

In 2012, the Fogarty Foundation provided support to a University scholar and leader to travel to Kolkata India and work voluntarily with Indian Mother and Child (IIMC). The volunteer work involved indoor and outdoor clinics, supporting medical practitioners and clinic staff and patients, giving health presentations and dressing injuries and burns. The field trip also included assisting women in becomming self-sufficient, as well as attendance at a Women’s Peace council.

Previously, the Fogarty Foundation has supported a young leader involved in the Australian Youth Ambassador Development Program in Papua New Guinea, also involved in the World Vision Pacific Development Group. This young leader is providing a specialist communications and administrative role for the TB DOTS program, a TB program supported by Global Health.

Another young achiever associated with The Smith Family was supported by the Fogarty Foundation to attend the Asian Junior fencing Championships held in Thailand. Apart from studying an Engineering Degree and being a champion at Fencing, this Fogarty Giving recipient coaches junior teams at clubs and primary schools.
