Teach Learn Grow Inc’s. LEAP! tutoring programme is designed to give primary school students in remote and regional areas of WA the opportunity to gain access to one-on-one tutoring assistance from skilled University scholars and University training teachers. The Fogarty Foundation is delighted to have been involved with sponsorship of the innaugural Teach Learn Grow Inc., programme at Three Springs Primary School. UWA Fogarty Scholar David Sherwood and ECU Teaching scholar Travis Elliott were the concept designers or the programme. They have gathered interested and dedicated scholars to join them in the delivery of the programme and the strengthening of the organisation.
The success of the programme is evaluated through comparison of diagnostic and summative curriculum based testing, similar to what Teach Learn Grow Inc., has already successfully implemented at Three Springs Primary School in 2010. Tutors also take on a mentoring role to encourage students to explore opportuinities offered by tertiary education.
Tutors build their own leadership and mentoring skills as well as experience the diversity and benefits of country life. Listen to the Radio interview held recently through the link below:
