Dr. Graeme Hankey is one of Australia’s top Neurologist and Head of the Stroke Unit at Royal Perth Hospital, and Clinical Professor at the School of Medicine and Pharmacology at The University of Western Australia. The UWA Fogarty Scholars were extremely fortunate to have a fireside chat with Dr. Hankey.
Dr. Hankey shared his experiences, trials and triumphs with the scholars and discussed any parallels with their lives; discussed the difficult choices he made to pursue his career and encouraged the students to take risks and challenge themselves and society’s ‘views’ on reserach. The evening concluded with a discerning speech of gratitude from Tom, one of the Fogarty Scholars.
