On May 1st The Perth USAsia Centre hosted the In the Zone Conference for 2015. This event had some great speakers and some key business leaders in attendance. Some of the Fogarty Scholars were fortunate enough to be invited to attend part of the event, not usually attended by students.

Keynote speakers at this year’s event included Australian Foreign Minister, the Honorable Julie Bishop as well as Hon Colin Barrnett, WA Premier. Other talks were lead by Deidre Willmott, CEO of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of WA;  Andrew Harding,  CEO of Iron Ore Rio Tinto; Krishna Sen, Professor of Indonesian Studies and Dean of Arts at UWA; and Gordon Flake, CEO of the Perth USAsia Centre

The topics of discussion were the changing nature of social, political and economic relationships in Indonesia and the rest of the zone

The Fogarty Scholars watched the speakers via streaming at the venue and were fortunate enough to meet some of the other participants. The event organisers said the Fogarty Scholars were wonderful participants and they very much enjoyed their attendance.
