A celebration of school success….the launch of EDvance 2017 Report Card was a congratulatory occasion, acknowledging the improvements achieved by all schools in Cohort 2. The Minister for Education and Training, Hon. Sue Ellery, MLC praised the program and the efforts of these school leaders. Check out some of the highlights….

Fogarty EDvance’s school improvement program is a 3 year, whole school program for schools in disadvantaged communities, supporting school executive teams by building leadership and management skills.

An event at the offices of Hawaiian Group – our cohort sponsor – gave us an opportunity to celebrate the real improvements schools participating in the second cohort of the program, have made. Each of these schools has seen improvements in academic and social outcomes for their students, including higher student literacy and numeracy attainment rates, positive changes in student behaviour, staff culture and parent and community engagement.

Welcomed by Fogarty Foundation Executive Chair, Annie Fogarty, and officially launched by the new Minister for Education and Training, the Hon. Suzanne (Sue) Ellery, MLC, the event was attended by industry partners and supporters, Members of Parliament, executive members of the Department of Education, school leaders and most importantly, the principals from the ten schools who completed the three year program and their leadership mentors.

The Minister commended the program as being truly innovative and grounded in a deep understanding of the environment in which these schools operate. Principals from participating schools praised the program as creating the opportunity for systematic and guided improvement, as well as the unique chance to work directly with an experienced and passionate mentor.
