Developing WA's Future Leaders with Fogarty Ripple
In 2025, the Fogarty Foundation launched Fogarty Ripple, a leadership and enterprise initiative designed to equip Fogarty Scholars with the skills, networks, and real-world experiences to become the next generation of leaders and changemakers. Delivered under the guidance of CEO Elizabeth Knight and led by Project Officer Racheline Tantular, Fogarty Ripple aims to establish itself as the premier leadership program for WA's young people.Â
Fogarty Ripple sits within the Fogarty Foundation's Next Generation Leaders pillar, focusing on shaping young leaders throughout their undergraduate university journey: introducing a series of leadership programs tailored to Â
Fogarty Ripple begins with the Leadership Foundations Program for first-year participants, focusing on purpose and self-discovery. The Leadership Horizons program for second-year participants deepens career development, innovation and enterprise interests, and global perspectives of participants. Leadership Legacy, for third-year participants, is where Scholars can build their own legacy and leave a lasting impact. These leadership programs allow high-potential participants to experience and practice their leadership skills, both through workshops with established leaders and by delivering real-world projects.Â
One participant from 2025 reflected on the program's impact on them and their journey: "The Ripple Bootcamp was a great experience and has made me feel like I am in a well-supported position to choose any career direction. I am more confident in my ability to start an enterprise and feel less confined to a conventional career pathway."Â
Fogarty Ripple will expand in 2026, inviting wider participants to join in 2026, to enrich the cohort experience. By bringing emerging leaders together, the Fogarty Foundation aims to create spaces where ambition and excellence reinforce one another. Through Clusters of High-Potential People, we bring together ambitious thinkers, creators, and change-makers. These high-impact networks spark innovation, drive collaboration, and generate a Leadership based Ripple Effect of transformation across sectors and communities. Â
To lead this expansion, the Fogarty Foundation has welcomed Harry Kwon as the new Program Coordinator for the Next Generation Leaders pillar. With a background in program management across the non-profit sector, Harry will oversee Fogarty Ripple's growth and work closely with participants to ensure they develop as capable future leaders.Â
