Brining Kids in Space to Western Australia in 2025
The Fogarty Foundation is proud to announce a new partnership with the Andy Thomas Space Foundation to bring the national Kids in Space program to Western Australia for the first time in 2025.
Delivered by Makers Empire and supported by the Australian Space Agency, Kids in Space is a hands-on STEM education program that engages upper-primary students in space-themed design challenges. The program uses 3D technology, real-world problem-solving, and future-focused learning to inspire curiosity and build skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
In 2024, the program reached over 14,000 students and more than 115 schools across Australia. In 2025, with the support of the Fogarty Foundation, Western Australian schools will be able to take part in this exciting national initiative.
What participating WA schools will receive:
- A comprehensive STEM education package valued at nearly $7,000 per school
- 3D printers and associated tools to enable students to design and prototype space-related solutions
- Professional learning for teachers, including online workshops and sessions with space industry experts
- Curriculum-aligned resources and guided learning modules based on design thinking
- Entry into the state showcase, with the opportunity to progress to the national final
Empowering WA’s Future Innovators
The Fogarty Foundation is committed to providing equitable access to high-quality learning opportunities. By supporting the expansion of Kids in Space to Western Australia, the Foundation aims to foster future STEM leaders and space innovators across both metropolitan and regional schools.
This initiative builds on the Foundation’s long-standing support for STEM education, and forms part of a broader strategy to ensure WA students are equipped with the knowledge and capabilities needed in a rapidly changing world.
The Fogarty Foundation is delighted to be partnering with the Andy Thomas Space Foundation and Makers Empire to bring this nationally acclaimed program to Western Australia. Together, we look forward to helping young people reach for the stars.
