In May 2025, the Fogarty Foundation supported the GoSH Hackathon held in Geraldton, which successfully engaged over 500 students from Years 5 to 12.

The event began with the GoSHowcase at Queens Park Theatre in Geraldton, where students attended talks and activities about technology and future careers. A simultaneous GoSHowcase was also held in Port Denison, reaching additional students in the region.

The following day, students in Geraldton formed teams to take part in the GoSHackathon at St John’s School, working together to develop technology-based solutions to local challenges within five hours.

The challenges were connected to important issues like water use, housing, and community wellbeing. Industry mentors were present to support students throughout the event.

This was part of a wider regional program including workshops and career talks designed to give young people in the Mid-West more opportunities to explore STEM and innovation.

The Fogarty Foundation was pleased to support these events, which offered many students the chance to learn, create and work together on real-world problems.
