Welcoming the 2025 UWA Fogarty Scholars: The Next Generation of Leaders

Since 2003, the UWA Fogarty Scholarship Program has been dedicated to recognising and supporting Western Australia’s brightest young minds. This prestigious scholarship, a joint initiative between the Fogarty Foundation and The University of Western Australia, provides comprehensive support to high-achieving students as they embark on their academic and leadership journeys.

The 2025 cohort exemplifies excellence, ambition, and a commitment to making a meaningful impact. 

Introducing the UWA Fogarty Scholars of 2025:

  • Joshua Abordi – Mount Lawley Senior High School | Combined Bachelor’s of Engineering (Honours) and Philosophy (Honours)
  • Ethan Buzza – Scotch College | Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours), Majoring in Artificial Intelligence & Finance
  • Holly Brown – Kingsway Christian College | Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)
  • Santi Chua – Perth Modern School | Assured Pathway to the Doctor of Medicine via the Bachelor of Biomedicine (Specialised)
  • Stella Freeman – Perth College | Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce
  • Jeremiah Wang – Christ Church Grammar School | Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Specialised); Assured Pathway to Doctor of Medicine
  • Kele Readhead – Perth Modern School | Bachelor of Philosophy and Bachelor of Engineering
  • Callum Jones – Ocean Reef Senior High School | Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce
  • Levi Nichols – Manea Senior College | Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of Commerce
  • Nishok Nimalan – Aquinas College | Bachelor of Biomedicine (Specialised), with an Assured Pathway to Medicine
  • Shihan Tan – Wesley College | Assured Pathway to the Doctor of Medicine via the Bachelor of Biomedicine (Specialised)

These outstanding students were officially welcomed into the program at the annual UWA Fogarty Scholars Welcome Breakfast on 6th March 2025, where they connected with fellow Scholars, Alumni, and key leaders from UWA and the Fogarty Foundation.

This event not only marks the beginning of their academic journey but also highlights the broader mission of the program—to foster a network of driven individuals who will lead and innovate across disciplines. Speakers at the event shared insights into the opportunities and challenges ahead, reinforcing the program’s commitment to developing Scholars who will contribute to their communities and beyond.

As they take their first steps at UWA, these Scholars join a prestigious network of past recipients who have made remarkable contributions in medicine, law, engineering, entrepreneurship, and public policy.
